Battery Storage Warehouse — Adjacent-Market Pilot
By Field Engineering · January 30, 2026 · 5 min read
The same per-vehicle baseline approach generalizes to per-rack monitoring in stationary battery storage. We ran a 60-day pilot to find out how well.
Stationary battery storage warehouses have a related but different problem: no vehicles to baseline against, but a much higher density of energy storage in a tighter footprint. We adapted the rolling-baseline approach to per-module rather than per-vehicle and ran a 60-day pilot.
What transferred and what did not
- Transferred: rolling baseline, cross-cell coherence, segment-master ring.
- Adapted: cell field-of-view, calibration cadence, cabling lengths.
- Did not transfer: vehicle-grade IR optics — racks are closer to the sensor.
The pilot recorded zero events but produced a clean baseline dataset that has informed the second-generation cell optics. We are not pursuing this market directly but the architecture clearly generalizes if the right partner appears.
